The WLYCenter empowers young Latinas to achieve a successful transition to the University of Wyoming by providing leadership opportunities to participate in innovative programs that address Wyoming’s Latina youths’ social, academic, and educational needs. WLYCenter believes in a future of Latinas where they are able to pursue their dreams, reach their goals, and acquire the skills and self-confidence to live a life of purpose, connection, contribution, and joy.

Wyoming Latina Youth Center Scholarship

Wyoming Latina Youth Center strives to make college education a top priority for every Latina student in Wyoming. In providing financial assistantship, WLYC believes in mobilizing students and communities to proactively advance the goals of leadership and academic success. 

 

WLYC also believes in providing tools and opportunities that students need to do well in their course work, graduate, enter, and excel in a profession, help lead our nation and state of Wyoming in going forward, and mentor the generations to come. 

 

Who Is Eligible: High School Graduating Senior and must be of entering Laramie County Community College and/or University of Wyoming as a freshman. Available to all majors with an interest in working with Latinx populations or studies in Latinx Studies.

Programs & Services

The Wyoming Latina Youth Center is a non-profit organization focused on empowering young Latinas through mentorship and awareness. Funding for the Wyoming Latina Youth Center is provided through grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, awarded to Dr. Cecilia Aragon. The grant provides funding for undergraduate work study students, interns and supports travel for UW students for professional development, graduate school applications and travel to professional conferences.
